An die Fledermaus
Arme Fledermaus, Flattermaus, S\u00e4ugetier, kein Nager,
Verdammt zu fliegen mit zitternden Fl\u00fcgelschl\u00e4gen!
Welchen Fluch hast auf dich geladen, dass du dein Dasein
Kopf\u00fcber h\u00e4ngend in dunklen H\u00f6hlen, st\u00e4ndig auf der Flucht
Vor Licht und Helle verbringen musst?
Einem Untier \u00e4hnlich, auf der Jagd nach Insekten nur.
Mit Z\u00e4hnen eines blutsaugenden Vampirs
wurdest du Symbol des Unheils, gemieden und gef\u00fcrchtet.
Ich f\u00fchle f\u00fcr dich und doch, auch ich, will dich zur\u00fcck scheuchen,
Kommst in meinen Frieden der warmen Sommernacht
Hastig herein geflattert, Unruhe in meine Gedanken bringend mit
Deinem aufgeregten Fl\u00fcgelschlag.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Zur\u00fcck mit dir und den aufgescheuchten
Gedanken in die Dunkelheit, aus der ihr kamt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Poor bat, flutter mouse, a mammal, not rodent
Doomed to fly with trembling wings.
What curse have you brought upon yourself,
to have to endure your existence
Upside down in dark caves, constantly on the run,
escaping light and brightness?
Your grimace resembling a beast,
With teeth of a blood-sucking vampire.
Feared as symbol of mischief,
and only hunting insects.
I feel for you and yet, I too, want to shoo you away,
As you intrude into my peace of the warm summer night
Hastily fluttering, bringing restlessness into my thoughts
with your excited flapping of wings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Back with you and your startled
