Shimmering heat has arrived, in Northern California, one hundred and fifty miles off the coast,

brought by the hot winds from the inland deserts.

Heat is swallowing the pleasant summer air,

a monster crawling through the streets, melting the asphalt,

covering all life with its hot blanket, impossible to throw off.

Once again, for weeks, life succumbs, humans are hiding in houses, offices buildings, shopping malls, darkness,

waiting for the night to set all free, open up the firmament with starry nights, giving fresh air to breath.
